Clean a CSV without opening a spreadsheet
Remove duplicate rows, trim spaces, choose columns, and convert CSV delimiters locally. Preview the changes and download your clean file.
Bring your data
Up to 2 MB, 25,000 data rows, and 80 columns. Nothing is uploaded.
Keep what matters
Columns to keep
Duplicates are compared after trimming and choosing columns. Letter case stays significant. The first occurrence is kept.
Paste a table, choose a file, or try the example.
Your clean table
Adds an apostrophe to cells starting with =, +, −, @, tabs, or newlines. This also changes negative numbers to text. Switch off when you need exact values for a trusted data import.
Original order preserved. No accounts or uploads.
A quick cleanup
A calmer route from export to import.
A downloaded table can carry duplicate lines, padded cells, and columns you do not need. CSV Tidy makes these changes visible before you download a new file. Your source file is never overwritten.
Read the data, choose your cleanup rules, and check the preview. Turning a rule on or off rebuilds the result from the original input, so you can change your mind without losing rows.
Will it change dates or product codes?
Cells are treated as strings. The tool does not parse dates, round decimals, or remove leading zeroes. Your spreadsheet may still interpret them on import; use its text-column option for codes such as 00123.
What counts as a duplicate?
All selected cells must match exactly after optional trimming. “Blue” and “blue” are different. Dropping a column can make formerly different rows match. Turn duplicate removal off if repeated rows are meaningful.
What about quotes and uneven rows?
Quoted delimiters, escaped double quotes, and line breaks inside quoted cells are supported. Unclosed or malformed quotes stop the import with an error. Short rows receive empty cells; extra columns remain available to select.
What does formula protection do?
CSV has no standard cell types. Spreadsheet apps may evaluate certain cells as formulas. The optional apostrophe prefix encourages a text interpretation, but behavior varies between apps. Review untrusted files before opening them in a spreadsheet.
