Scale your recipe to a different batch size
Adjust ingredient quantities for your target servings. Keep the original units, work with decimals or fractions, and print or download the scaled list.
Your scaled ingredient list
| Ingredient | Original | Scaled |
|---|
≈ marks a rounded number. <0.001 means a small positive quantity. “Unchanged” items were not multiplied.
Your recipe stays in this tab. Save the result before leaving.
A different batch, the same units
Do the quantity arithmetic before you start.
Enter the original and desired serving counts. Each numeric ingredient is multiplied by the target divided by the original. For example, changing four servings to six uses a multiplier of 1½.
The tool keeps cups as cups, grams as grams, and counts as counts. It handles the arithmetic, while you decide how to measure a fractional egg, adjust seasoning, or adapt the cooking method.
Which quantity formats work?
Use numbers such as 2 or 0.5, fractions such as 1/3, and mixed numbers such as 1 1/2. Common fraction characters such as ½ and ¾ also work. Use a decimal point, not a comma. Ranges such as 1–2 are not supported; choose a single starting quantity.
What about “to taste” or optional items?
Use a hyphen (-) in the quantity field, such as “- | | salt to taste”. That line stays in the result and is marked unchanged. Empty units are allowed, so “2 | | eggs” works as a count.
Are the results exact?
The arithmetic uses fractions internally. Exact-fraction display keeps that value. Decimal display rounds to three places and marks rounding with ≈; very small positive quantities show <0.001 instead of zero. The CSV also includes the exact scaled fraction.
Does it change cooking time or convert units?
No. This tool scales ingredient quantities only. Keep temperatures, cooking times, pan sizes, and preparation instructions outside the ingredient list. It does not convert cups to grams or make density assumptions.
