Slide eight little tiles back into order
Play a daily or fresh sliding-number puzzle. Use keyboard or touch, undo a move, and take up to three hints. Every board has a solution.
Eight tiles. One empty space.
The gap is part of the puzzle.
Move one neighboring tile at a time until the numbers run from 1 to 8, reading across each row. Finish with the empty square at the bottom right.
Every starting board is made through legal moves from the finished arrangement, so every puzzle has a solution. Sometimes a tile has to move away from its final place to make room for another.
When does the daily puzzle change?
The daily identifier follows the UTC date, so people opening it on the same UTC day get the same board. A puzzle already open stays as it is. Press Daily puzzle to load the current day's arrangement.
What does a hint show?
It highlights a tile that starts a shortest route from your current position. Click the tile yourself to make the move. You can use three hints per puzzle; changing a board cancels a pending hint.
How are moves and time counted?
Only legal slides count. Undo subtracts one move but keeps elapsed time and hint use. Time starts on your first slide and includes time away from the tab. A completed puzzle freezes its result until you start or restart a board.
Is progress saved?
Progress is only in this tab. Refreshing or leaving clears it. You can save a short text result after finishing. The puzzle and its hints work on your device, with no account or server calculation.
