Learning & practice / Type Path

Practice typing with a short passage and a steady pace

Practice typing with original passages or your own text. Track speed, accuracy, and active time, correct mistakes, and save a completed result without an account.

01

Pick a passage

The clock starts when you type. Match the full passage, including capitals and punctuation, to finish. Backspace and selection edits work as usual.

Green matches the passage. Red underlined characters need correcting. Mistakes stay in your accuracy count after correction.

A little practice, at your pace

Follow the words. Find your rhythm.

Choose a short passage or bring your own. Type it carefully, fix any mismatches, and finish with a simple record of your speed and accuracy.

Everything stays in this tab. There is no account, leaderboard, or saved history. Download a completed result if you want to keep it.

How are speed and accuracy calculated?

One word means five characters, including spaces and punctuation. Words per minute is matching characters divided by five, then divided by active minutes. Accuracy is the share of inserted characters that matched their positions when entered. Deleting a mistake does not erase it from the score. This is a practice estimate, not a typing certification.

What happens when I pause?

The clock stops until you choose Resume. Switching away from the tab also pauses a running practice. Loading or restarting a passage clears the current result and starts fresh.

Can I practice with my own writing?

Choose “Use my own text,” paste 20–1,000 characters, and load it. This version supports basic English letters, numbers, and punctuation. Line breaks and repeated spaces are combined. Pasting into the typing field is disabled so you can practice entering the passage.

When is a result ready to save?

When your typed text matches the entire passage exactly. The clock then stops and Save result becomes available. The text file contains the score, its calculation, and the full passage. Refreshing or leaving the page clears the practice.
