Numbers & measurements / Unit Bench

Give your measurements another set of units

Convert lists of length, mass, volume, area, speed, or temperature values. See rounding clearly and save complete CSV or text reports with exact fractions.

01

Choose the measurements

Reversing swaps the units and keeps your input numbers.

1–100 decimal values. Use a decimal point; omit units, commas, fractions, and exponents. Up to 12 decimal places and an input magnitude of 1 trillion.

Pick a category, choose units, and add your values.

02

Keep the converted values

Your conversion table will appear here.

A change of units

Convert one value or a whole list.

Switch between common units of length, mass, volume, area, speed, or temperature. Keep every value in its original order, choose how many decimals to show, and save a table for the next task.

Numbers stay in this tab. No account, file upload, or external calculation service is needed.

How is rounding handled?

Results are rounded only for display, up to the selected number of decimal places. Trailing zeroes are removed. An exact halfway value rounds away from zero. The ≈ mark and a separate note make rounding visible, including a nonzero quantity that rounds to zero. Downloaded fractions retain the exact conversion arithmetic; they do not imply that a measurement has that accuracy.

Which versions of familiar units are used?

Feet and their derived units use the international foot. Mass ounces and pounds use avoirdupois definitions. US liquid and Imperial volume units are labeled separately. The converter does not include survey, dry-volume, or cup units. Definitions follow NIST's conversion tables and exact-factor notes.

Can I convert negative temperatures?

Yes, as long as the reading is at or above absolute zero. Temperature mode converts readings, including their scale offsets. It does not convert temperature differences. The formulas are listed in NIST's temperature reference. Other categories accept nonnegative quantities.

What happens to invalid lines?

The whole conversion stops and identifies the source line. It never silently skips a malformed number. Blank lines are ignored; source-line numbers remain in the CSV. Changing a value or setting clears the previous result until you convert again.

What is in the downloads?

The CSV includes input, units, converted value, rounding status, and exact fraction for every entry. Formula-like cells receive the site's usual spreadsheet protection. Spreadsheet applications may reformat numbers or fractions; the text report preserves their written form.
