Writing & creativity / Story Dice
Roll a handful of prompts for your next story
Draw a character, place, object, goal, and twist. Hold your favorites, reroll the rest, and save or print your prompts and writing notes.
Five starting points. Your story.
Roll five prompts, then connect them in any way you like.
Load a story code
Notes stay in this tab and are kept when you roll or load a code. Download or print before leaving; there is no autosave.
Writing notes
A small nudge for a blank page
Keep the interesting part. Roll the rest.
A character, a place, an object, a goal, and a twist give you something to work with. They are ingredients, not rules. Interpret them literally, turn them into metaphors, or let one lead you somewhere unexpected.
Write alone, pass a story around a group, or print a prompt sheet for a class. Hold a prompt to keep it while the others change.
Does this write the story for me?
No. It draws short prompts from an original fixed collection. You make the connections and write the story. There are no model calls, accounts, or limits on how often you roll.
What does the code contain?
The SD1 code identifies only the five prompts. Someone can load it here to get the same combination. It does not include held states, your writing notes, or personal information.
Can a reroll leave a prompt unchanged?
Held prompts stay the same. Every unheld prompt changes to a different item from its category. If all five are held, release one or unlock all to roll again.
What is saved or printed?
The text download includes all five prompts, their code, and your complete notes. Print uses a compact prompt list and your notes, or blank writing lines if the notes are empty. Notes are only held in memory while this tab is open.
