Groups & events / Team Mix
Split a name list into random teams
Create balanced random groups from 2–200 names. Choose a team count or maximum size, then print or download the teams without uploading your list.
Make random groups with sizes as even as possible.

Get the group going
Spend less time choosing sides.
For a workshop, a class activity, or a casual game, a quick random split can get people moving. Enter the names, choose how many teams you need, and keep a printable or spreadsheet copy.
Team Mix shuffles the list and distributes everyone once. Team sizes differ by no more than one person. It does not use information about skills, relationships, or previous teams.
How does maximum team size work?
The tool makes the smallest number of teams needed to stay at or below your chosen maximum, then balances their sizes. For example, 10 people with a maximum of four become teams of four, three, and three. If the maximum is larger than the whole list, everyone goes into one team.
Is the draw random?
The shuffle uses the browser’s cryptographic random-number source and avoids modulo bias when choosing positions. A new mix can still repeat an earlier arrangement by chance. This is a casual grouping tool, not an audited draw or a skill-balancing system.
Why are duplicate names rejected?
Duplicate labels make it hard to know whether every person has been assigned. Add an initial, nickname, or number for people with the same name. Names differing only by case or common Unicode composition are treated as the same label.
What can I export?
Print the team cards, save a plain-text list, or download a CSV with team and name columns. CSV cells that resemble spreadsheet formulas are prefixed with an apostrophe for safer opening. The display and plain-text list preserve the names you entered, after trimming outer spaces.
