Find the tempo and keep a steady beat

Tap at least four times

Keep a steady pace for 4–9 taps. A pause longer than 3.5 seconds starts a fresh estimate.

A simple pulse for practice. Sound starts only when you choose.

Find a pace and practice

A small rhythm tool with two simple jobs.

Tap along with a rhythm to estimate its tempo, then use that number in the metronome. You can also enter any whole-number tempo from 20 to 300 BPM. Choose a beat grouping and listen for the higher first click.

The numbered markers follow the scheduled beat. Set the volume to zero for a visual pulse, or turn off the first-beat accent for an even series of clicks.

How is tap tempo calculated?

After four taps, the estimate uses the median interval among up to nine recent taps. Very rapid double clicks are ignored. Pausing for more than 3.5 seconds resets the sequence. The estimate depends on your tapping and is rounded to a whole BPM.

Does it listen to music or use my microphone?

No. It measures only your taps and generates its own short tones. It does not record audio, request microphone access, or analyze a song.

Will it play in the background?

The metronome stops when this tab becomes hidden. Press Start to resume from beat one. Changing tempo or beat grouping also stops playback. Device load, audio latency, and browser behavior can affect timing; keep the tab visible while practicing.

Is the beat grouping a time signature?

It is a repeating group of clicks with an optional accent on the first one. It does not assign a note value, add subdivisions, or interpret a written time signature. Tap the pulse you want the clicks to follow.
